"SLOW" A tender love story, full of respect and subtlety. To the IDAHOBIT 2024

a film by Marija Kavtaradze

Lithuania/Spain/Sweden 2023, 108 minutes, original Lithuanian version with German subtitles

When dance teacher Elena meets sign language interpreter Dovydas at a course for deaf teenagers, there is an immediate attraction between the two, an immediate energy. They meet again, spend time together and share their first memories. Their friendship quickly takes on more and more romantic traits. But when Elena also seeks Dovydas' physical closeness, he recoils and reveals to her that he is asexual. Both have become so important to each other that they still want to find a way as a couple - with a kind of intimacy that feels right for both of them.
In her breathtaking love story "Slow", Lithuanian director Marija Kavtaradze tells of the relationship between two people in search of a common emotional and physical language, full of empathy and visual power. Greta Grinevičiūtė and Kęstutis Cicėnas shine as two lovers with respect for each other's boundaries, but also with individual desires. Their elegantly choreographed dance along supposed barriers is a groundbreaking cinematic exploration of asexuality.

Kavtaradze was awarded the Directing Prize at Sundance for her work and entered the race for the Oscar for Best International Film for Lithuania with "Slow".

The event is supported by the Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs MV and the Landesverband Soziokultur MV
