Fountain Floodplain

The Brunnenaue in Stralsund is a small idyllic park with a large fountain.

First mentioned in 1630 as a healing spring, the Biedermeier-era city park is a simple facility with play and sports areas. Around 1848, Kaufman Ernst H. F. Billich expanded it into a park with arbors, new paths and copses. Remnants of the original layout still exist despite the modernization in the style of the 1960s. Rare tree species including bald cypress. Fountains, sculptures by Stralsund artist Hans-Peter Jaeger were planted and still stand guard. The park invites many people to its large fountains, especially in summer.
