Symphonic sounds

Symphonic music from the Romantic period meets a contemporary oratorio that explores the theological and ambiguous aspects of Romanticism. The premiere of the First Symphony by Danish composer Niels Wilhelm Gade was conducted by none other than Gade's teacher Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. The oratorio Hor ch 'e tempo di dormire by the Greifswald composer Immanuel Ott sets the text of an Italian Marian hymn from the 17th century to music.
