Museum of Technology and Transport

Created in 2006 in an old streetcar depot, the museum is one of the largest technical museums in the country. The exhibition is dedicated to the local transport of Szczecin and the automotive industry.

The Museum of Technology and Transport is located in the former streetcar depot on ul. Niemierzyńska, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1907 to be exact. The construction was caused by the lack of space for the increasing number of trolleys. Land with allotment gardens and the area of a district cemetery were taken for the investment.
The building was designed by two Berlin architects - Steinmetz and Griesbach. Interesting looks the gable roof with glass front, in which a clock was installed. Before the outbreak of the Second World War the depot was modernized twice - in 1912 and at the turn of 1929 to 1930.
The Niemierzyn depot was the first depot in Szczecin to start work after the Second World War - it was opened as early as 1945. The facility is a head depot, inside there are 16 tracks. From 1945 Niemierzyn served only streetcar line 3, at the end of the operation also lines 4, 11 and 12. The last departure from this depot in history was on October 1, 2004 - it was streetcar line 11.

In 2009, the modernization of the Niemierzyn depot began and its interiors were handed over to the Museum of Technology and Transport. A year later the museum started its operation. Today, you can see historic streetcars, buses, cars and motorcycles in the former depot. Permanent exhibitions include: "Szczecin Automobile in the Years 1919-1944," "Polish Automobiles - Vehicles of the People's Republic of Poland," "Single-Track Vehicles from the People's Republic of Poland," "Polish Prototypes," and "Vehicles of Uniformed Services."

Ticket prices are: 10 PLN (normal), 5 PLN (reduced), 24 PLN (family ticket, 1 or 2 adults and children, maximum 5 persons), group ticket 5 PLN (from 10 persons). On Tuesdays, admission is free (except "Eureka of Movement").The Niemierzyn Depot was entered in the Voivodeship Monuments List in November 2005.
The museum has an elevator for people with limited mobility, which allows wheelchair users to access the exhibition in the basement and the café on the upper floor. Visitors can buy souvenirs at the cash desk.
