Chapel St. Gertrud

The chapel St. Gertrud is a gem of the brick gothic.

The Chapel of St. Gertrude is a twelve-sided brick building with center column and star vault from the 15th century. Of the originally over 30 Gertrud chapels in Pomerania, only 4 are still present today, of which the Wolgaster is the only one in Germany. Since St. Gertrude is considered to be the patron saint of travelers and pilgrims, those who did not make it to the city in time, before the gates closed, could find a safe and dry place to sleep in the St. Gertrude Chapel.
