Local history museum Altwigshagen

The Heimatstube offers an overview of the past of the manor village Altwigshagen with numerous interesting exhibits from agriculture and private households.

Since the foundation of the Heimatstube in 1996 by Mrs. Kunstmann, numerous exhibits have been collected in a small and a large room of the former school of Altwigshagen through donations from residents of the village. Altwigshagen is a manor village existing at least since the 13th century, which was characterized for centuries by the manor with a striking neo-Gothic manor house. A small interesting testimony of the manor history in the local history room is the coat of arms stone of the gatehouse completed in 1607 under Christoff von Lindstedt. A striking eye-catcher is the collection of agricultural objects from past centuries. There are also several exhibits on school history and numerous utensils from private households from many decades. Furthermore, several showcases display a wide variety of banknotes, among others from the time of the great inflation of 1923, as well as ration cards from the time before and after World War II. Life in Altwigshagen is documented by numerous photographs in the Heimatstube. If you are interested in a visit, you can contact the mayor Mrs. Foy at the telephone number 0170 4606270.
