If you feel like chicken gods, fossilized witnesses of yesteryear and of course amber, you can stroll the 3 kilometers along the natural beach from the seaside resort of Lubmin in the direction of Vierow harbor or upside down. It's a circuit if you decide to walk once along the beach, past the big Teufelsstein (a granite block in the water) and the return tour along the high shore on the small hiking trail with a view of the Greifswalder Bodden.
In spring and autumn, migratory birds rest in the shallow waters of the Bodden and gather for their journey.
Route of North German Romanticism: Vierow Harbour – Friedrichs honeymoon
One of the stops on Caspar David Friedrich’s honeymoon was the beach near the small village of Vierow. A sketch from 3 July 1818 shows fishing boats and nets off the cliffed coast of Vierow. Friedrich and his wife Caroline stayed in Wolgast on the first of July. It was possible to reach the coast of Vierow by land or water and they continued their journey from here to Greifswald and the Isle of Rügen.
