Performances All the Year Round
|
| | The Theatre Vorpommern was established in 1994 by combining two theatres: the Theatre Greifswald founded in 1914 and the Theatre Stralsund founded in 1916. The performances shown are very multifaceted - music and dramatic theatre, ballet and dance, opera and musical and children's theatre. |
The Theatre Vorpommern comprises four different stages - the Theatre Greifswald [452 seats], the Theatre Stralsund [519 seats], the theatre in the "Penguin" Greifswald and the old brewery in Stralsund [80 seats]. Presentations are not limited to dramatic performances only but also include concerts, musicals and operas. | |
| | The Theatre Vorpommern provides a wide range of open-air performances during the summer for both locals and visitors. In 2003, these productions were extended by the "Ostseefestspiele", a variety of open-air stagings, annually held from June to August at attractive locations, for example in the ruined monastery of Eldena, on the market square of Greifswald, on the Seebühne [sea stage] at Stralsund or in various vacation resorts of Vorpommern. These cultural offers attract many tourists each year during the summer. Theatre Vorpommern and "Ostseefestspiele" schedules are available at theater-vorpommern.de. |
