Lagoon of Szczecin & Ueckermünde Heath

Swimming, Cycling, Canoeing ...

Everything right at your doorstep - water, forests, hills and heath. The Lagoon of Szczecin [Stettiner Haff] separates the Polish peninsula Wollin and the German-Polish Isle of Usedom from the Baltic Sea and offers a great selection of passenger ship tours, a wide range of water sports and some excellent beaches.

The Lagoon of Szczecin and the nearby Ueckermünde Heath, situated south of the Isle of Usedom, offer unforgettable impressions throughout the year. The harmony of water, forest, intact nature and clean air makes this area an attractice holiday destination for beach visitors, nature lovers, cyclists, hikers and water sportsmen. The recreation resorts of Ueckermünde and Mönkebude are both very family friendly; their shallow beaches are safe and great for kids to practise swimming. You'll find ideal conditions for a wide range of water sports and boating activities in the harbour which provides excellent marina facilities. Remember to visit the Ueckermünde Zoo.

The beautiful country estate in the village of Rothenklempenow is well worth a day trip. You can also explore the Brohmer Hills and Lake Galenbeck near Strasburg, where you'll find a great variety of native flora and fauna. Discover winegrowing, the narrow-gauge railway, museums, castles, many hiking and cycling routes and much more. For a night out, visit the cinema "Florian" in Torgelow and experience the extraordinary electronic waiter service. The lido "Heidebad" has a constant temperature of 22°C from May to September. Right next to Torgelow you'll find Ukranenland, a small village reviving the life of the former Slavic settlements. And remember to visit the fishing village of Altwarp where you can go aboard to duty free shop at sea. Or simply start your hiking tours to the nearby sand dunes or to the "Wachholdertal" [Juniper Valley] here. You also don't want to miss seeing the towns of Eggesin, Penkun, Pasewalk and Löcknitz.
