| Nordic walking is a form of Walking, but you're using sticks matching your height which support your arm movement [similar to ski sticks]. The use of the sticks helps to burn more calories, increases the pulse frequency and encourages larger steps which allow a faster movement.

| | Nordic Walking is a healthy outdoor sport which makes you fit and keeps you in good spirit. The whole body is in motion during the workout, so both the active and passive musculoskeletal systems are stimulated. Because of the low and steady pace, Nordic Walking is also suitable for beginners. A special place for Nordic Walking is Lubmin. The seaside resort is a quiet town with a marvellous sandy beach | and a beautiful pier. The maritime climate, the sea breeze, pine forests and the view over the Baltic Sea to the Isle of Rügen ensure relaxation and pleasure. Every September, Lubmin invites interested walkers from all Baltic countries to the "Walking Day" event. In addition to active walking on trails of various lengths [5-15 km], lectures and courses for beginners are offered.
But even wanderers or walkers without sporting ambitions will find recreation here. There are marked hiking routes. Many places provide boards which inform the visitor about local history, sights, different routes and the local flora and fauna. |
