As the mouth area of the rivers Oder and Peene the Szczecin Lagoon is often referred to as Oderhaff or Pomeranian Lagoon – fitting because on it and on its banks unite the advantages of the region: water, pristine nature, maritime flair on nearby small fishing villages.
By the lagoon the border between Poland and Germany extends. Overall it has an area of about 903 sq km and only a slight salinity. The Piastenkanal on the Polish side provided for the maritime sector is a connection to the open Baltic Sea. The partly natural coasts of the Szczecin Lagoon are further characterized by fine-grained sand beaches and landscapes reeds. For water sports enthusiasts, the lagoon offers ideal conditions for surfing, kite surfing or sailing adventures.
