Scenic coastlines, beautiful forests, culture & sports
| Pine trees, soft and fragrant forest floors, sandy beaches - all of this and much more you'll find right next to some of the best swimming locations in Germany. This sort of natural setting surrounds many of the areas around the beautiful bays and coves [Bodden] and the River Peene. Go for a walk in the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful country views. |
| Swim or just splash about on the shores, try one of the many watersport facilities or just relax and let your mind wander. The nature reserve in Gristow with its pristine environment stretches for miles around the Bodden waters and is well worth exploring. You don't want to miss the Sculpture Park in Katzow with its amazing giant sculptures. The seaside resort of Lubmin has a shallow beach which is excellent for kids to practise swimming. There is also a great pier. You'll find lots of marked trails for the new sport of walking; you can attend courses run by experts in Lubmin. Courses are offered for beginners as well as for advanced walkers. The port of the fishing village of Freest not only looks very picturesque, but is in fact still a busy local fishing centre. And if you arrive by boat, make sure that you stop at Kröslin marina. |
The town of Wolgast is divided by the River Peene; one side of the town is situated on the Isle of Usedom, the other on the mainland. Both parts are linked by an impressive bridge which is also the gate to the Isle of Usedom. For a great view across the water to the Isle of Usedom, visit the little town of Lassan.
