Baltic Sea cycle path Lübeck - Stralsund (MEC 02)
1. day: Arrival in Lübeck
Arrival during the day independently. Have a ramble through the old part of the town. Very nice shops and charming pubs can be found in the Hanseatic city which is surrounded by a beautiful port, dykes and ponds. Overnight stay in Lübeck.
2. day: Lübeck - Wismar, approximately 42-65 km
You leave the city and cycle to Travemünde. At the estuary of the Trave the Baltic Sea cycle path starts. With the ferry you drive to Priwall and continue the tour cycling through the Klützer Winkel until you come to the seaside resort Boltenhagen. You pass the line of cliffs and come to the bay of Wismar. From here you cycle to the centre of the Hanseatic city of Wismar. The old Hanseatic city is surely one of the most beautiful in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The gorgeous houses reflect the glamour and the strength of the once so powerful Hanse. Overnight stay.
3. day: Wismar - Kühlungsborn, approximately 42 km
Fortunately, the old town of Wismar wasn't as badly destroyed as other towns in the war. A round tour is recommended. Through the Kühlung, which has a forest and valley landscape formed in the Weichsel ice age, you cycle to Kühlungsborn. Overnight stay in Kühlungsborn.
4. day: Kühlungsborn - Warnemünde, approximately 35 km
The country, as far as Warnemünde, the seaside resort before the gate of Rostock, is very wide and flat. You cycle along the coast and if you want you can make a little detour by the train "Molli" to Bad Doberan and cycle across the country to Warnemünde. Overnight stay.
5. day: Warnemünde - Fischland/Darß, approximately 55 km
In Warnemünde the river Warnow flows into the Baltic Sea. A ramble along the old pier, where you can find old fishing boats and large sailing yachts, is a charming experience. Taking the riverside path, you cycle to Wustrow and to the artists' colony in Ahrenshoop. Overnight stay in the region "Fischland".
6. day: Darß - Barth, approximately 40 km
Trough the "Darß Jungle" to Prerow. An excursion to west beach has to be planned in advance. You will see a very wild but romantic coastal area. Now you start to cycle to the national park of the "Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft". There are very important bird stations for cranes and grey geese. Overnight stay.
7. day: Barth - Stralsund, approximately 46 km
Along the "Bodden" of Barth you leave the town and drive to Stralsund. You can identify the Hanseatic city from afar by the three steeples. In Stralsund you finish the cycle tour. Overnight stay in Stralsund.
8. day: Stralsund
After breakfast you return the bikes to the tour organizer. Departure (extra service only with reservation).
